Institutional Facility - 1500 Ton Chiller & Pumps
Highlights: Major increase in cooling capacity with high-efficiency pumps, delivering approximately $1M/year in operating savings and reduced greenhouse gas impact.
NZ Mechanical was contracted to install the mechanical piping for a 1,500-ton electric chiller, a 150 HP VIL pump, and a 250 HP VIL pump. The upgrade increased the facility’s cooling capacity by 500 tons within a similar footprint and added high-powered, high-efficiency pumps, capable of supporting the entire plant.
The project delivered significant operational impact, including approximately $1 million per year in energy cost savings and a reduction of nearly 1,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to the core scope, NZ Mechanical performed plant-wide optimization across the 4,000-ton chiller plant, including replacement and new installation of multiple control valves, flow meters, and temperature sensors.
